James "Jim" Claude Humphries

James “Jim, Jimbo” Claude Humphries, born February 3, 1973, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 18, 2023. Jim spent his life in and around the McCalla area. He graduated from McAdory High School in 1991. He began working at United States Steel in 1996, where he worked passionately and dedicated to his craft in mechanical maintenance until the present day. In his free time, Jim loved anything outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer. He did all these things with his boys and loved spending his time with them, any chance he could. When his boys were younger, Jim actively and passionately coached them in baseball for many years. They traveled millions of miles to tournaments and back, loving every minute. He was also extremely passionate about Alabama football, where he and Casey hosted many “watch parties”. He would be the loudest fan in the room. His friendships are countless. The many, many friends whom Jim loved and cared for were one of his top priorities in life. His relationships with others were important. He cared so well for those he loved and actively volunteered his time and energy to everyone around him. His family knew he could be counted on for any need. “Love God, love people” was exemplified in his life, every single day. His relationship with his Savior, Jesus Christ was personal. Jim has an honest, real relationship with Jesus, where he often talked about being in the car or anywhere outdoors and having his private time with the Lord, each day. He knew his home was Heaven and lived here on Earth to bring glory to The Kingdom. One of his highest honors was serving Jesus, his church and his community on the usher team at his church, Church of the Highlands ~ Southwest Campus. As an usher he took great pride in making and building relationships, making everyone who walked inside feel welcome and loved. Jim married the love of his life, Casey, on August 28, 2010. Though their time was cut tragically, heart shatteringly short, they loved each other fiercely and excitedly looked forward to a retirement of building their forever home, travel and, so very much looked forward to eventually…LOTS of grandchildren. Their kids, Gage, Lauryn, Grey and Grant were the true loves of their lives. They took so much pride in seeing them grow into the young, successful and kind adults they are today. If you spoke to Jim anywhere or anytime, he proudly let you know what good men his boys had grown to be. All working in admirable careers and building their lives, as good people. Jim lived a beautiful life that always included: hi mom, Mildred Jackson, dad, James Humphries, sister, Allison Munoz. His mother in law, Lois Roberts, sisters in law, Stacie (Kyle) Munyon, Stephanie (Allen) Drew. Nieces and nephews: Jackson (Ariel), Grayson, Avery, Kason, Addison, Sophie, Sadie and Anderson. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who are left with such an indescribable loss. Services to honor the beautiful life of Jim “Jimbo” Humphries will be held Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Church of the Highlands, Southwest Campus. Visitation will be at 2:00 pm with service immediately following at 3:00 pm. Pastors Steven Winston, Allen Drew, Jason Handley will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Kidz Outdoors, a hunting and fishing outreach program for children with special needs.
