Charlotte Ann Cooley

Charlotte Ann Cooley was born November 3, 1951 and passed away Friday, January 5, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents Danial and Evelyn Clark, a brother Danial Clark and a son Steven Herring. She is survived by her husband of 32 years George Cooley, a brother David Clark, a son Alan Cooley, a daughter Janet Cooley, and 3 grandsons Zakary Herring, Hunter Cooley and Harper Cooley. She leaves behind nephews, nieces and a host of friends. Charlotte spent 20 years with the Birmingham Police Department, retiring as a detective in the White-Collar Crime Unit. After retirement, she went on to help found the Fraud Department at Colonial Bank, guiding and developing it for several years. Her mission statement throughout her career was to "Help the Good People". Charlotte developed into an expert Quilter being at her happiest when she could design and create a beautiful quilt. She constantly looked for those she deemed "Quilt Worthy" and would lovingly labor to make the appropriate quilt for them. Everyone who received one seemed genuinely grateful to have gotten an authentic "Charlotte Cooley Quilt". Her talent will be missed by everyone. Charlotte was a member and happy worker at Lakeview Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the church for the outpouring of love and support as she struggled with serious health problems. During her final days it was Lakeview Baptist members who were there with their support, prayers and love. If she had known the concern and love of those church members she would have been overwhelmed. Though saddened by her passing, the church joins in the joy of her arrival in Heaven! Finally, the family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors and staff at Grandview Medical Center. Though often very busy, the nurses would go out of their way to see to her needs. She wanted for nothing that modern medicine could provide, but it was the love and tender care of the hospital staff that will stay with us. Thank you, Grandview! Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at McCalla Memorial Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Barry Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville, AL. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1-2 PM one hour prior to services at McCalla Memorial Funeral Home.
