Cynthia "Cindy" Faye Bowman Rooker

Cynthia “Cindy” Faye Bowman Rooker, 66, of Woodstock passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on January 4, 2024 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was born in Cullman, Alabama on August 9th, 1957. Cindy is preceded in death by her parents, Billy Joe Bowman and Faye Gamble Bowman. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, David Rooker, her sons Brad (Amy) Rooker, Craig (Tamara) Rooker, Todd (Jess) Rooker, and daughter Emily (Cody) Ellison, brother Joe (Kay) Bowman, and grandchildren Macy, Cade, Rece and Caroline Rooker, David and Nora Ellison, as well as nieces and nephews and many friends. Cindy graduated from Minor High School in 1975, and went on to Jefferson State Community College where she received an associates degree in Medical Records. She raised four children, and loved to sew, bake, serve at her church, First Baptist Church of Woodstock, make wreaths, and spend time with her grandchildren, who lovingly called her Mimi. Cindy will be remembered for her huge, beautiful smile, and her bright blue eyes, which she passed down to all her children and even most of her grandchildren. She loved spending time in the nursery at church, and loved any time she could spend around babies. She sang in the choir and spent many years teaching vacation bible school. She loved to travel and visit new places. She never missed a sporting event for her children and loved watching Alabama Football and the Atlanta Braves. Her yell could be picked out in the bleachers or the living room watching any kind of game. Roll Tide! A visitation for family and friends will be held at the First Baptist Church of Woodstock on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at Garden City Cemetery the following day, Wednesday, January 10th, 2024 at 11:00 am. She speaks with wisdom, and on her tongue there is tender instruction. She keeps a close eye on the conduct of her family, and she does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children and her husband stand up and bless her. In addition, he sings her praises, by saying, "Many women have done noble work, but you have surpassed them all!"
