Danny McRee

Danny Joe McRee(PawPaw), 68 years old of Woodstock, Alabama passed away Thursday, July 23, 2026 surrounded by his loving children. He is now walking hand in hand, with his loving wife Darlene McRee (Nana) on the streets of Heaven. Danny was a special, one-of-a-kind, man that you don’t find often. His heart was always bigger than he was and he found true joy in helping others. He is well known throughout the state and surrounding communities by his acts of kindness, hospitality, and genuine friendships. He spent his life working in the field of concrete alongside his brothers. If he was not working, you would find him spending time with friends and family and spoiling his 7 grandchildren-Zack Major/wife Sydney Major, Kaylyn Barnes, Zeana Tew, Jaleigh McRee, Channing Barnes, Jace McRee and his 2 great grandchildren Julian Major and Claire Major. He also enjoyed watching Andy Griffith, Westerns, Fox News, Looney Tunes and was an avid Trump supporter. He was the biggest fan of the Auburn Football Team-War Eagle, and also enjoyed anything racing. He loved playing and watching golf, along with many other sports. Danny was proceeded in death by his parents Rita and Joe McRee, his sister Debbie Rhodes, his brothers Wayne and Jeff McRee, his beloved wife Darlene McRee, and his granddaughter Jaleigh McRee. He is survived by his brother Charles(BooBoo)McRee/Wanda McRee, his children Danielle and Chris Tew, Laura and Josh Barnes, Justin and Jessi McRee, and his 6 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren, along with his sister in laws, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers include Zack Major, Mike McRee, Hunter McRee, Ren McRee, Rick Hernandez, Aaron Mowery. Honorary Pallbearers include Channing Barnes, Jace McRee, and Julian Major. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 from 12:30-2:00 at McCalla Memorial Funeral Home with funeral services starting at 2:00 with graveside to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, we ask that contributions be made to Neighborhood Bridges in honor of PawPaw Danny McRee. PawPaw loved to help others, his favorite saying was to “Pay it Forward” and this is a place that helps school children have their basic needs met.
