Harold E. Langston

Harold Edward Langston, born April 7, 1938, passed away surrounded by the love of his family and those who cherished him deeply. Harold was the beloved son of Howard Jackson Langston and Clara Belle Smitherman Langston. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1961 until 1967, carrying with him the values of dedication, strength, and honor throughout his life. Harold was a retired letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, where he faithfully served his community. He was known for his hard work, dependability, and kindness to those he met along his route. A man of faith, Harold attended The Baptist Church of McAdory and valued his church family. Harold was also a loyal fan of Alabama Crimson Tide football and loved cheering on Alabama every chance he got. More than anything else, Harold loved his family. He shared a beautiful life with his wife, Barbara Whaley Langston, whom he married on May 12, 1962. Together they built a marriage filled with love, faith, and devotion for nearly 64 years. Harold was a loving father to his son, Keith Langston, and was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Susan Kines. He was also a proud grandfather to Matthew Langston (Margaret) and Josh Langston, and a cherished great-grandfather to Madeline and Mack. He found great joy in his family and treasured the time spent with each of them. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Langston, his sister, Myrtice Hull, and her husband, Walter Newman Hull. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Shirley Langston, along with a host of beloved nieces and nephews. Harold will be remembered for his strength, his loyalty to family, and the countless memories he created with those he loved. Whether through his stories, his wisdom, or the simple moments shared together, his presence brought comfort and joy to many. Though his passing leaves a great emptiness in the hearts of those who loved him, his legacy will continue through the family he cherished and the memories they will carry forever. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever honored. Services will be held at The Baptist Church of McAdory. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Henry Lambert, Eddie Smith, Matthew Langston, Josh Langston, Bobby Sellers, and Jerry Carter Honorary pallbearers will be the McAdory High School Class of 1956.
