Robert Andrew Ryan

Robert “Andy” Ryan (Big Sue) was born March 17, 1981, three minutes after his twin sister Katie. He graduated from McAdory High School and worked for Jefferson County for 23 years in different capacities, but most recently as Public Works Supervisor for district 4. Andy took pride in his job and worked hard to keep his area looking like it was his own personal property. Andy served his community starting at a very young age, and for many years, by volunteering with the Eastern Valley Fire Department where he ended his duty ranked as Captain. Andy was a caring man that never met a stranger. He would continue to talk to you until he found a common ground that he could connect with you on. He helped any soul that had a need and gave freely his time to others. The most charming and captivating trait was his magnetic sense of humor that could leave any room laughing and continued this trademark up until his final hours here on earth. He was an avid hunter and would often spend many hard-working hours at the club planting fields, scouting areas to hunt, and enjoying time with his dear friends and family. Andy found his niche when he started coaching softball with his partner, Justin. Andy had a unique way of critiquing, guiding, and teaching the girls while still making them feel loved, confident…and of course laughing. Once you played for Coach Andy, he adopted you as his and would coach and root for you no matter which team you were on going forward. He truly loved all his girls and looked forward to coaching them for many more seasons. At home Andy was a loving son, brother, husband and father that worked hard to provide the best for his family. He was a Godly man that showed Faith Over Fear throughout his battle with cancer, and through his strength and testimony he touched and changed the lives of so many. He was a born again Christian and member of the Baptist Church at McAdory. He will be forever missed. He is survived by his wife Jennifer, daughters Madelyn and Harper, mother Janet Ryan, sisters Amanda Johnson (Dale), Katie Ryan (Brooks), and a host of nieces nephews. He is proceeded in death by his father, Rob Ryan; his granny and grandaddy, Bob and Jackie Ryan; and his mamaw and papaw, Albert and Mary Frances Trucks. Family will receive visitors at the Baptist Church at McAdory on Friday 7/26/2024 from 9am-11am with graveside services following at Cedar Hill Cemetery at 1130. Brother Bill McCall officiating.
