Thomas Samuel Dennis

Thomas Samuel Dennis, born July 28,1955 peacefully went to be with Jesus September 16, 2023. He was surrounded by his loved ones. Family will receive visitors on Thursday, September 28 at 4pm at Hepzibah Baptist Church in McCalla, Alabama. A Celebration of his life will begin that evening at 5:30 pm. He was preceded In death by his parents, Roscoe and Lillian Dennis and his brother, Randy Dennis. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Rosemary Dennis, his brother Ronnie Dennis, his daughters Katie Dennis (James) Ray, Mary (Richard) McFerrin, Jenny (Jeffery) Horne, and Stephanie (Jared) West. He had eight grandchildren, Kaden (Jayden) Mathews, Conner McFerrin, Jeffery and Caitlin Horne, Remi Ray, Carson Dennis, Kennedy and Ethan West and one great-granddaughter Montana Mathews. He also leaves two nephews, William and Junior Dennis and one niece, Robyn Eaton. He worked at Scotts-Hyponex for 27 years. However, his greatest honor was pastoring Old Blue Creek and Antioch Baptist Churches, and leading over 70 people to meet Jesus as their Savior. He enjoyed camping, cutting grass, Blue Plate mayonnaise, CB radios, guitars, good music, and fast cars. He loved volunteering at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Association Christian Ministry Center, which he did joyfully for over 12 years. His passion was sharing the love of Jesus and ministering in music, whether at the CMC, his Sunday School class, or singing and playing in the Christian Soldier Band. He also established a CB radio church during Covid-19 which continues to this day. Tommy struggled with many health issues, especially in recent years but we rejoice in the fact that because of his relationship with Jesus Christ, he is now in heaven, completely healed and pain free. Whether you knew him as Dad. Tommy, Bro. Tommy, Pawpaw or Yard dog, you knew that he loved Jesus with everything he had. We were blessed to have him for 68 years. He loved what he believed and modeled it for all of us. He was unashamed, devout & unwavering in his love for God, his family and all those he loved. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Grammer, Michael Poole, his sons-in-law, grandsons and nephews. If Tommy could talk to you in person today, he would want to make sure that you did not just know about his Jesus, but had repented of your sins and surrendered your life to him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pleasant Grove Association building fund or the Hepzibah Baptist Church debt repayment fund.
