Tommy Reece Fletcher

Tommy Reece Fletcher lived from December 15th, 1944, to February 21st, 2025. He was born in Chattanooga to James Henry Bennett Fletcher and Dorothy Irene Huffine Fletcher. His father tragically passed away only months later. His mother Dorothy raised all 5 children with the help of grandparents and family. He is survived by his closest sister Wilma Stanley. Reece means enthusiasm and Tommy carried this enthusiasm through each wonderful part of his life. In 1963, he graduated from Chattanooga Central High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served for three years and served in other countries including Germany, France, and Africa. He used his GI Bill to graduate from Chattanooga Community College and had a unique career including jobs as a photographer, radio DJ, restaurant manager, waffle salesman, and also 15 more years of service in the Army Reserves. Tom loved serving his community through several organizations including the Lions Club, serving in church as an elder and music director at Whosoever Will Cumberland Presbyterian in Chattanooga, choir member, greeter, and Upward Basketball volunteer at Tannehill Valley Baptist Church In McCalla, and volunteered at community resource centers like the Grace Place in Bessemer. Though he never grew to know his own father, he fathered two sons Cameron Thomas Fletcher and Thomas Loyd Fletcher, with the love of his life for over 42 years, Sandy Elizabeth Hitt Fletcher. He was delighted to have Emily (Cameron) and Bethany (Thomas) join the family through marriage. Then, his joy multiplied at the arrival of each of his grandsons Jaxon Ty Fletcher (Cameron) and Theodore Reece Fletcher (Thomas). Tom loved hearing and telling stories. Among many great hymns, he loved singing “This is My Story” (Blessed Assurance). Now, He is truly praising his Savior all the day long. Arrangements are Visitation 6-8pm Tuesday February 25th at Tannehill Valley Baptist Church, Visitation 10am and Funeral Service 11am Wednesday February 26th at Tannehill Valley Baptist Church, and Burial 11am Thursday February 27th at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Paul bearers are Cameron Fletcher, Thomas Fletcher, Jaxon Fletcher, Joel Wilson, Charlie Moore, and Bobby Stanley.
