William Earl Posey

William Earl Posey “Pop”, 83, of McCalla, Alabama passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family, on January 23, 2023. After serving many years as a Purchasing Agent, Earl retired from General Machinery in 2009 with an exemplary record and an outstanding reputation for his honorable work ethic. Upon retirement, which he referred to as “six Saturdays a week”, his goal was to be of service daily to someone in his community which he accomplished with great humility. The most important part of Earl’s life was his family. His heart was happiest when his family was gathered in his home together. He never failed to remind the family as they were leaving how many people were in the car that he loved. Earl was a member of The Baptist Church at McAdory. He enjoyed Sunday afternoons watching Nascar with his boys. He was an Auburn football fan, collected classic model cars, loved fishing, and was incredibly patient as he assembled many 1000-piece puzzles. He took great pride in maintaining an immaculate yard and even enjoyed providing the same service to several of his neighbors. Pop never passed up the opportunity to put something silly on his head for a picture. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Clara Posey; his mother-in-law, Pauline Horton; his infant daughter, Pamela Posey; his infant great granddaughter, Lennon McKinley. Earl is survived by his “best buddy” and loyal companion, Bentley; his wife of 61 years, Patsy, whom he adored; his daughters, Kathy McKinley (David) and Mindy Miller (Jason); his grandchildren, Dalton McKinley (Kayla), Peyton McKinley (fiancé Jonathan Cannon) and Carson Miller; his great grandchildren, Adelynn Batton and Wilder McKinley. Pop was truly a kind and gentle man. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. The family would like to express a special thanks to Pop’s Hospice nurses and caregivers, Nantce, Keywuana and Kayla, for the extraordinary care they provided. Visitation will be Thursday, January 26, 2023 beginning at 11:30 am at McCalla Memorial Funeral Home with service immediately following at 1:00 pm. Dr. Bill McCall, whom Earl dearly loved, will be officiating. Private graveside service for family immediately following.
