Connie A. Howell
August 1, 1946 - December 10, 2020
Connie Howell, age 74, went to be with her husband, Roddy, and our Lord, on Thursday, December 10th, 2020. Everything Connie did was done in the spirit of caring, sharing, and making the world a better place. Anyone that knew Connie knew she always offered a helping hand, a loving heart, and was genuinely one of the sweetest people. We all awe in her strength, her gentleness, and most of all the blessing she would bring to all the people who were lucky enough to have been in her life. Connie was known to sacrifice, support, and give so much of herself. You knew she had to be tired at the end of the day because she gave so much to make life nicer for everyone else. She was good, kind, generous, wise, and made life wonderful for everyone. Connie was a member of Canaan Baptist Church. She retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield after 34 years of service. She enjoyed her time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends. She also enjoyed her flowers, gardening, fishing, travel, good-hearted humor, and most importantly her family. Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Roddy C. Howell Sr.; mother Helen Mendelsohn and father Dick Mendelsohn; brother Marvin Mendelsohn. Connie is survived by her sons, Roddy C. Howell Jr. (Tracy) and Marvin (“Marv”) Howell; Brother, Marty Mendelsohn (Margie); sisters Eva Sherrell (Jerry), Carole Carroll (Petie), and Mildred Vanoy (James); grandchildren Roddy Howell III (Kelsey), Bethany Britnell (Eric), Heather Elders (Lee), Cody Howell (Tessa), and Kalie Howell. Connie was one of the many people that fell victim to the COVID-19 viral pandemic along with many members of her family even though all were extremely cautious. Unfortunately, Connie was unable to survive though she was extremely careful, fought hard, and received all available treatments by the best medical staff. The family practiced continuous monitoring for symptoms and immediately had taken her to the ER for attention and followed her request to save her at any costs. The family wants everyone to know, there is no cure for COVID-19 and it is indiscriminate on who it attacks or takes their life. Please practice every precaution you can; if not for yourself, then do it for your loved ones, your entire family, and those that you do not know. And if you haven’t done it today, reach out and tell those special people that you love them on a regular basis. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, only immediate family members are permitted to attend visitation.
