Craig Michael Hockersmith

October 29, 1965 - December 24, 2018

Craig Hockersmith, age 53 of Bessemer, AL gained his heavenly wings on December 24, 2018. Craig was employed with Frito-Lay for 28 years. Craig was a graduate of McAdory High School who married his high school sweetheart Rhonda. Their 38 year union produced 3 beautiful children, Tristan, Lauren and Morgan. He was a wonderful son, big brother, son-in-law, Daddy and husband. The 38 years he gained a wonderful son-in-law Luke Baswell whom he loved as a son. Craig was a dedicated friend who loved riding motorcycles and bringing a smile to everyone’s life. Craig had a passion for music and we can only imagine him singing with the angels. He loved unconditional and gave unconditional. He was raised by wonderful parents and loving siblings. Craig’s happiest moment was being a Poppi….he loved them more than life itself. His motto was, “It don’t matter”…. He was preceded in death by his sister, Cristi Jo Hockersmith; maternal grandparents, Rev. G. C. Sloan and Mary Jo Rice; Paternal grandparents, Perry and Florence Hockersmith; father-in-law, James McMillian. Craig is survived by his wife, Rhonda Hockersmith; children, Tristan Hockersmith, Lauren (Luke) Baswell and Morgan Hockersmith; grandchildren, Michael Ryan, Kayleigh Baswell, Jaxon Ryan, Maddie Baswell, Brantley Ryan, blessing due July 2019; parents, Mike and Glenda Hockersmith; brother, Cary Hockersmith; sister, Cheri (Keith) Rolison; mother-in-love, Mary McMillian, and a host of other family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 5 PM until 8 PM at McCalla Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday, December 28, 2018 at 2 PM at McCalla Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Green Pond Presbyterian Church Cemetery. A special thanks to American Legion Post 22 Riders and his Thursday night crew.
