Gerald Wayne McRee, 60, of the River Bend community in West Blocton, AL was killed in an automobile accident on Saturday, May 27th, 2023. He was born and raised in Bessemer, AL. He is preceded in death by his father, Joe Pierce McRee and his mother, Rita Ann McRee, mother in law Grace Lee Marchant, father in law Huey Ruffus Marchant, sister Debbie McRee Rhodes, brother Jeffery Ray McRee (Bubba), sister in law Darlene Kerr McRee, and brother in law Gerald R. Marchant. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 42 years, Rhonda Marchant McRee. His daughter Mandi Mowery (Aaron) and son Mike McRee (Jana). He is also survived by his pride and joy, his 6 grandchildren. Braden, Bailey, Brooks, and Benjamin Mowery, Hunter and Harper McRee. Brothers Charles McRee (Wanda), Danny McRee. Sister in law Diane Cook, sister in law Brenda Cezar McRee, and brother in law Gordon Marchant (Lisa); Survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews as well. Wayne was the owner of Wayne's Concrete for 38 years. He took pride in his work and loved what he did. He was one of the hardest workers you'd ever meet and he cared greatly for the many people he worked alongside over the years. Many would say he never met a stranger and loved to make people laugh. He was known to cut up and joke around with everyone and was one of the best story tellers around. In his free time he enjoyed working in his beautiful gardens and if you knew him you ate from them often. He was an amazing cook and loved sharing his cooking with his family and friends, which he treated like family. He enjoyed crappie fishing and was extremely skilled at it, making most envious of the ease at which he reeled in one after the other. But, spending time with his wife, kids, and grandchildren was his favorite thing to do. They would all agree they were blessed with the best husband, Paw Paw, Dad, and father in law in the world with the biggest heart. Wayne lived a simple life and those he shared his life with were most important to him. He left a legacy that will live on through all those he has touched with his larger than life personality over the years. They say character is how you treat those that can do nothing for you and he truly lived by that.
