Horace D. Cooley Jr of McCalla Al. was born September 20, 1941 and went to be with his heavenly Father on December 5, 2019. Mr. Cooley was a retired firefighter and a U S Army Veteran. He and his fellow firefighters were like a family and have remained close through the years, like brothers. He loved them all very much. Mr. Cooley went on after retiring to build houses with his company H and H homes, along with tractor work and many side jobs. He was a busy man and very hard working in all he did. Mr. Cooley was known for not meeting a stranger and showing love and kindness to everyone he met. He was a graduate of the class of 59 at McAdory high school. He was a good husband and enjoyed his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Horace D. Cooley Sr. and his mother Blanche Sullivan Ingram. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Jeanette Hopkins Cooley, son Brett Cooley (Valerie), daughters, Shannon McDougal (Jim), Sonya Arrington (Jim), Tammy Boyd (Robert), Tera Pullen (Dorian), adopted son, Jack Fanning-Cooley, brother, Darryl (Judy) Cooley; sister, Jean Cooley (Jim) Gunn; sister, Sandy Ingram (Ray) Smith also godchildren, Harrison Sparks (Renee), Rena Caffee (Luther), Kim Batton(James) 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, December 9, 2019 from 5 PM until 8 PM at McCalla Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at 1 PM at McCalla Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hopewell Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery.
