Phillip Duane Cheek

Phillip Duane Cheek 57, of McCalla, AL peacefully passed away on August 17th, 2021, surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous battle with COVID-19. Phillip was born on June 15th, 1964, to James T. and Dorothy Kitchens Cheek, in Savannah, Georgia. After graduating from McAdory High School in 1982, he went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Navy on the USS Enterprise, CVN 65. Phillip is survived by his loving wife, Roxann Reynolds Cheek. His children, Jessica Nicole Cheek and Zachary Ryan Cheek. His step-children, Witni Rena’ Roberson and Brandon Douglas Roberson (Stephanie). Grand-children, Gracie, Brayden, Kylie and Carly. He is also survived by his parents, James T. and Dorothy K. Cheek, his brother Jeff Cheek (Andrea). He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, James T. and Annie Louise Cheek, and William Bruce and Lester Selena Kitchens. Phillip lived life to the fullest. He had many things he was passionate about with family being first. He loved Auburn football, Donald Trump, and anything Red, White and Blue. He loved to talk for hours to anybody that would listen on his favorite subjects. Due to his love for the sea, he loved to take cruises. He was always looking for the next great adventure. If you knew Phillip, you knew he always had a Mountain Dew in his hand, and a pocket full of lifesaver mints. He will be remembered for his infectious smile and blue eyes. There will be a military graveside service Monday, August 23rd at 1:15 pm at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL.
