Richard E. Blair

October 29, 1946 - February 19, 2020

Richard E Blair, 73 passed away 19th February 2020 at home in McCalla, Alabama. The service will be held at McCalla Memorial Funeral Home. His viewing will be from 1 to 2 pm followed by the funeral service at 2 pm. There will be no grave side service. Richard Blair was born October 29th 1946 in Mercer, Pennsylvania to Richard and Veda Blair. He attended school in the Sandy Lake area of Pennsylvania and later joined the United States Navy where he enjoyed a successful career as a boiler tech on the USS Luce DLG7 out of Jacksonville Florida 7th Fleet. After the Navy, he went on to work in the steel industry as a successful area manager for Sharon Steel in Farrell, PA , US Steel in Pittsburgh, PA and US Steel in Birmingham Alabama. Richard had many hobbies he enjoyed throughout the years like hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, and softball. He also had a passion for Civil War history, westerns, and army movies. Being a great Father, he especially enjoyed coaching young people in sports and sharing his bountiful knowledge to anyone that would give him a chance to teach. He never stopped trying to teach, guide and coach his kids even after they were adults. He was a current member of the Fraternal Order of Masons in the Cold Water Lodge 148 of Woodstock Alabama and past member of the Masonic Lodge in Grove City, Pennsylvania. Richard is survived by his wife Terry Blair and 5 children Shelley (Greg) Bowser Transfer, PA, Melissa (Doug) Shaffert, Sutton, NE, Sean (Jill) Blair-Turner, Dallas, TX. Christopher (Amanda) Blair , and Andrew (Summer) Blair both of McCalla, AL . He has 6 grandaughters, Amber, Alyssa, Brianna, Kathryn, Henley, and Chloe, 4 grandsons, Joshua, Jared, Aiden, Maverick, and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also, survived by 3 brothers David (Bobbi Jo) Blair, Dennis (Tammy) Blair, Jack (Norma) Blair, and 3 sisters Judy Reisinger, Faye (John) Williams, and Pamela (William) Kite all who live in PA. He was predeceased by both parents, step-mother Rebecca, brother-in-law Donald Reisinger, and 1 great- grandson.
