Billy Joe Tonnemacher

Billy Tonnemacher, typically called “Pawpaw,” passed away at the age of 69 from lung cancer. He was a loving spouse, a cherished grandfather, and a devoted great grandfather. Born on December 23 1954, he was a brilliant man whose intellect and creativity inspired everyone around him. Billy was a true renaissance man, capable of teaching himself anything he set his mind to. From building motorized bicycles to fixing lawnmowers, he had a knack for finding solutions to any challenge. His fascination with machinery extended to his ability to wire entire houses, all learned through books and his relentless curiosity. He even crafted remarkable airplanes from beer cans, which he painted into stunning works of art. Billy shared a deep and loving partnership with his spouse, Nanny, for over 40 years. Together, they created a warm and nurturing home filled with warm home cooked breakfasts, projects constantly going on for papa building and fixing things, and a remarkable love to one another and for anyone who they welcomed into their home. Their bond was a testament to love and commitment, as they faced life’s challenges hand in hand, sharing countless memories that enriched their lives. Nanny and PawPaw’s life and home was the centerpiece of all of their grandchildren’s favorite childhood memories together. Memories and bonds many families wish to have, nanny and pawpaw created every single weekend in their home. Beyond his technical prowess, Pawpaw was a loving spouse and grandfather who filled weekends with adventure for his grandchildren, allowing them to ride go-karts, dirt bikes and four wheelers even building a motorcycle for the ones who didn’t have one, always ready to repair them after every wild ride. He imparted valuable lessons, teaching self-defense and instilling a sense of security in those he loved. If the world was ending, pawpaw is the one everyone would run to. He was made for that sort of thing. A skill not many have anymore. His final moments were spent with family, sharing laughter and love during a heartfelt conversation. His passing leaves a profound void in the lives of those who knew him, particularly his beloved partner, Nanny, who has faced unimaginable loss. Billy was an extraordinary human, always willing to help others and spread joy, he loved to start saving for Christmas months and months in advance for his loved ones to gift them something useful and practical. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. Billy is survived by his spouse, Brenda Aldridge, his grandchildren, Johnny, Joey, Spencer, Ashley, Johnita, Haley, and Kendall. Great grandchildren, Brendan, Allie, Jace, and Hudson.
