Terri Jean Owens

Terri Jean Owens, age 66, passed away on June 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 20, 1960, to Terry Wayne Preston and Eleanor Faye Smith, Terri grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, as the oldest of eight children. From an early age, she demonstrated the caring and nurturing spirit that would define her life. Terri was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Among her greatest joys were caring for those she loved and serving Jehovah. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and genuinely cared for. Her warmth, kindness, and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Terri was deeply committed to her faith as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was baptized and dedicated her life to Jehovah on January 18, 1976. She served as a pioneer for seven years, spending countless hours studying God’s Word and sharing the good news of Jehovah’s Kingdom with others. Her trust in Jehovah and His Son, Christ Jesus, remained steadfast throughout her life, sustaining her with strength, hope, and peace until the very end. On May 29, 1981, she married her loving husband, Randy Joe Owens. Together, they shared 45 years of marriage and built a life rooted in faith, love, and devotion, raising their three children and later opening their home and hearts to help raise several of their grandchildren. A lifelong learner, Terri had a passion for education. She earned both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master’s degree in Education, achievements of which she was immensely proud. As a nationally certified American Sign Language interpreter, midwife, teacher, and librarian, she dedicated her career to helping others learn, grow, and succeed. She retired from Bagley Elementary School after years of enriching the lives of students and families. Terri found joy in many of life’s simple blessings. She loved riding horses, traveling, tending her garden, and spending time with those she held dear. She approached life with compassion, determination, and a genuine love for people. While her family grieves the loss of her presence, they find comfort in the Bible’s promise of a resurrection and look forward to the day they will welcome Terri again in Jehovah’s promised new world. Her faith, kindness, and unwavering love for Jehovah, her family, and others will never be forgotten. Terri believed that family extended far beyond blood or relation. She loved fiercely and welcomed others as her own, creating a family far larger than could ever be listed here. Her kindness created lifelong bonds, her generosity lifted those around her, and her love left an imprint that time cannot erase. The countless lives she touched stand as a lasting testament to the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
